Internet Install OS/X fails -5101F

I’ve installed a new SSD in my 2015 MacBook Pro.

The Option, CMD R was used to start the internet OSX install. It proceeds for about 20mins and fails with an exclamation point over the globe icon and displays apple.com/support and -5101F

the error is consistently reproducible.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.14

Make sure you run the latest OSX update before installing the new SSD. The update will refresh your firmware and then you can install your new SSD and start the MBP using Opt-CMD-R. The OS install will probably be upgraded to Big Sur then you can restore with your time machine backup.
