I got the HomePod mini and it's not coming up as an option on my Apple TV 4K. When I turned on the Apple TV it didn't ask about using the HomePod. Also it's not listed as a devise under the Video/Audio on the Apple. I updated the HomePod software and verified my Apple TV and iPhone 12 are up to date. Any other ideas?

@Bam Bam - Sorry, but there will be no "fix". Things are working exactly as Apple described in their keynote and in this document:

The relevant quote: "Home theater audio doesn't support HomePod mini or other AirPlay 2-compatible speakers." They are reserving this feature for the big HomePods only.
I certainly don't know the internal details because I don't work for Apple. But this seems pretty conclusive.
BTW, Apple engineers do not read the user forums, these are for users only. It is not a good place for feature requests.
It finally worked! The HomePod mini is an option for AirPlay when using the Apple TV remote and Control Center. I don't know what changed today, but it finally appeared!

Whenever I use HomePod via airplay with Apple TV the sound drops out or it defaults back to tv speakers. Hoping Apple come up with a fix ASAP because I’m regretting my purchase!

Yup it’s a mini. But they use to work directly before the update. So I’m hoping Apple has another update soon for the mini. If not what’s the point
Using my HomePod mini as a default speaker for my AppleTV simply doesn’t work since it’s not selectable. I do hope this gets resolved soon.
Far from being ideal since there is no way of defaulting to the Homepods Mini. The setting always go back to the TV speakers. Very inconvenient.
