Camera on IPhone 12 Pro Max not focusing

first picture taken with 12 promax at 1.0 setting second picture taken with 12 Pro Max at .9 setting this is the fix is easy and you guys can stop beating up Apple or yourselves it’s real simple zoom down to the .9 setting setting

I spoke to Apple. They won’t be publicly releasing a statement they have advised that the information is on their website about the minimum distance capability of the camera.

I recommend you speak to Apple and escalate it to a senior support rep to get the same answer.

I send it back mate and it came out defective. Do it if you still can do and get the new phone

Yes I found the same issue on day 1. However if you use the wide angle lens it will work sort of

I use my phone to copy labels from computers tablets phones and this is the way I found for to get something readable

btw I expect they will fix this along with the Bluetooth issue as well

I found a work-around in the short term. It's not perfect. Recommend forcing it to use the telephoto lens and back up a little bit. Funny enough, it does a better job than the primary lens at close-in objects. I use it when I'm trying to scan small QR codes and such. Unfortunately if you're looking for a quality shot, you probably won't get it that way.

I think that the return policy that apply is the one from where you have bought your phone...

If it’s on the Apple Store website I think it’a one month, it’s the same in a physical Apple Store, but it may differ if it’s another vendor/shop...

There is no return policy in the limited warranty offered by Apple.

Well i went to Apple Store and after going through 3 apple security covid checkers i got into line, after explaining my camera issue i was ultimately not allowed in store to check out a display phone to see if issue was the same. One of the employees showed me his didnt focus either and it wasnt designed to do that for a macro like shot. He said if i needed macro like shots i should use magnifier from accessibility menu. I said I.m just trying to take pics of serial numbers off equipment, and I never had problems with previous phones. He said that was basically untrue as no iphones could take closeups... ???

To be honest the whole experience was exhausting and extremely frustrating. To the point that I feel like I may jump off apple products on next upgrade. This was the OKC apple store if anyone from Apple reads this stuff.

I said hey i just want to check it out, i spent 1500 on a phone and want to see for myself and was told NO. What kind of customer service is that?

BTW, I have no covid symptoms, no fever, was wearing a mask and in fact have had both pfizer vaccine shots due to my job.

It’s official from Apple that it’s a hardware issue. Read my post above. Will be posting a video on YouTube about it today.

unfortunately it is a hardware limitation, but I tried 2.5x and it kind of resolves the issue (I know it is not the best solution but we have to live with it)

From what I've read I don't think there is a way to fix the close up distance on the new Pro Max. It's just a function of the lens design.

Yes what I’m telling you is Apple messed up big time. There will be no software fix there is nothing software can do to fix this. It’s a hardware issue and a limitation of the camera system. Let’s hope in the next iPhone they address the issue.

Krzjaz, what exactly are they supposed to do??? Recall all the phones and replace the cameras? 😂

my friend, they cannot do anything! The problem is the lense. Bigger lenses make the focus distance worse. That’s why on real cameras you need macro lenses 🤷‍♂️

Yea unfortunately were just going to have to wait for this to be fixed via a software update....as long as it isn't hardware related!

In the meantime, you can use an app such as Moment (free)...which will allow you to manually focus on the subject :)
