Camera on IPhone 12 Pro Max not focusing

I’m having the same issue. The only reason I got a12 pro max is because the camera was supposed to be the best. It’s not. If I would have known that I wouldn’t have upgraded to it. Very disappointed when I spent so much money and not getting the results I want. Same issue with up close blurry. It’s frustrating !

No it’s not. The iPhone 11 Pro also had three cameras. The fact still remains that you can focus closer with the 11 Pro with the main camera, WITHOUT switching cameras.

So the fact is still that the new lense is worse than on the old phone 👍

Apple won’t replace it, because they told me that “it works just the way it’s supposed to”. They said that the camera is designed for telephoto shots, and that “it is not designed for macro”. They told me that I could buy an ‘attachment’ macro lens, and ‘try’ that!

What exactly is the maco attachment? I'm sure it's an extra $500 or something crazy.

It's frustrating because I would not have upgraded to the 12 had I known the camera was going to be like this. When I first bought the phone the camera didn't work at all! It was so hard to get a hold of anyone to get a new one. It was ridiculous. They have all kinds of ways to make it easy to buy the phone but geez if you have a problem with it... good luck. I got it before we went on vacation and I didn't have it because the camera was broken and I had to wait nearly a month to get it exchanged. Now to have the camera "fixed" it's so disappointing! I wish I would have just kept my 8.

I’m in my 3rd IPhone 12 Pro Max. I had read of some other motorcycle riders having issues with other phones but when I asked at Verizon that said they didn’t think that was the cause. So now my 3rd one is having the same issues. Not sure what to do.

Apple you need to address and fix the iPhone 12 Pro Max not focusing. I’ve had an 2015 Samsung phone for 6 years and I saved a lot of money to buy the iPhone 12 Pro Max and what I get is a flagship phone that can’t even focus. For the folks that live in USA, UK and... returning the iPhone might be easy but in my country it’s not easy whatsoever. And the last thing that I wanna hear is it’s a hardware issue. I was an apple lover but from now on I will tell everyone how awful this company is. (ps: Steve Jobs wouldn’t be happy. It’s really a shame)

I called Apple support on this- they tell me they are aware of the issue. They feel a fix will come out- when they aren’t sure.

I see that too. It is absolutely a NOGO that a newer model is somehow worse than the models before it! not at a price of 1300 €!

Happens at 2.5 zoom as well as 1x zoom.

I have the same problem, what's the solution ? For the moment iPhone 8 made better pics 🥺

unfortunately it is a hardware limitation, but I tried 2.5x and it kind of resolves the issue (I know it is not the best solution but we have to live with it)

I have the same problem in my 12 pro max but with the telephoto camera (2.5x) and in portrait mode that focuses at a short distance, but does not focus on distant objects. I'm deeply disappointed.

I have the same issue, lense 2.5 not focusing on long distance, especially not, if screen-touch is used for spot-focus!
