Camera on IPhone 12 Pro Max not focusing

Hello, I’m having an issue with my brand new phone not focusing on close up shots. I’ve tried countless things to see if maybe it’s just me but I can’t seem to fix the problem. I’ve tried to manually focus by tapping the screen, I’ve tried changing some camera setting and even tried to reset the phone. Regardless it seems as if the phone is having trouble with taking shots from a 10 inch distance which is weird considering my IPhone XS works perfectly fine.

HARDWARE ISSUE NOT SOFTWARE THERE WILL BE NO FIX.

Hi guys I see a lot of people here hoping for a software fix. I’ve spoken with engineers at Apple they have advised me that it’s a limitation of the camera system due to the larger lens. There will be no fix for this. No software update will fix it. Apple have said if you aren’t happy with the camera you can return your iPhone for a refund.

Apple, if your listening (doubt it) you are loosing customers because you don’t listen.

The fact that apple won’t give an honest, definitive, and consistent explanation to this problem is very sketchy. The way they don’t answer everyone’s questions is sketchy,

everything about apple’s products is becoming more and more deceptive.

See everyones issues lies with close ups, my closeups are fine its if I use the 1x Optical for like a scenic shot that it becomes so out of focus you cant even tell what the photo is, if i try doing closeup only a minor point of the photo is in focus and the rest of the screen area goes manic with focusing. Has anyone also noticed the glitch in switching from wide angle to 1x it doesnt switch smoothly it blocks out and in the whole time.

I am having this issue too! I sell crystals and bought the 12 pro max. I absolutely need to be able to take clear close-up photos for my business! This will absolutely not do!! Does anyone know what the return policy is? I saw another comment where they said they were planning to return their phone under warranty. I’m not sure what that means, would someone explain to me how a return would work on a phone I’ve had for a little while? (Several months) It is under warranty. Will that allow me to return it? TIA!

What exactly is the maco attachment? I'm sure it's an extra $500 or something crazy.

It's frustrating because I would not have upgraded to the 12 had I known the camera was going to be like this. When I first bought the phone the camera didn't work at all! It was so hard to get a hold of anyone to get a new one. It was ridiculous. They have all kinds of ways to make it easy to buy the phone but geez if you have a problem with it... good luck. I got it before we went on vacation and I didn't have it because the camera was broken and I had to wait nearly a month to get it exchanged. Now to have the camera "fixed" it's so disappointing! I wish I would have just kept my 8.

Apple you need to address and fix the iPhone 12 Pro Max not focusing. I’ve had an 2015 Samsung phone for 6 years and I saved a lot of money to buy the iPhone 12 Pro Max and what I get is a flagship phone that can’t even focus. For the folks that live in USA, UK and... returning the iPhone might be easy but in my country it’s not easy whatsoever. And the last thing that I wanna hear is it’s a hardware issue. I was an apple lover but from now on I will tell everyone how awful this company is. (ps: Steve Jobs wouldn’t be happy. It’s really a shame)
