I have a iPhone 6s and I forgot the password and I need to get in.

I did all this correctly but it keeps saying in order to restore iPhone I need to update to I do both but every time after about 5 minutes it keeps saying the software is corrupted. Ive re tried like it told me but its the same thing over and over again. What should I do?
