How can I reset Finder folders and files icon size to default?

Hey Apple Community

Today, I messed up with my folders and files icon size in Finder, I'm able to change them, but I want them to be same as they have been (Reset them to their default).

I searched a lot and I found some great tricks but as I'm using macOS 11.0.1 (Big Sur) most of the tricks don't work. I will be happy if you help me.

(For record I'm foreign and I'm not a native English speaker, so don't try to correct my English mistakes)*

Maybe if you say what you did...and how you did it.

Maybe a screen shot would help explain(?)

Finder you can Command + and Command - to change the local directory view

I suppose you could try deleting the plist...and see if this returns the default you are looking for.

delete the com.apple.finder.plist

Found here Finder>Go>Go to Folder, copy and paste:

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

Relaunch your Finder from the >Force Quit>Finder>Relaunch

Hey there!

Good question! It was a little different before, not sure if the last two OS’ changed in a way.

Anyhow, I’m hoping this is what you were looking for:

Open Finder > Right click the blank space > Show View Options.

On the bottom should be a button:

”Use as Defaults”

However if you hold down the Option key, it should change to “Reset to Defaults”, click that to reset it.

Then (If you need to) right click the Finder icon and relaunch Finder.

Hope that does it, if not I can think of a few other OS locations to check out in the ~/Library.

Cheers!

I tried it, the only thing that didn't reset was the folders and files icon size.

First I tried to delete a folder or a file named "com.apple.sidebarlists.plist", But I couldn't find it, I searched for it in different ways (for example I copy and paste this code in Go to Finder and it could not find it:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
) and I still couldn't find it.

Is there another way to reset it or I should try to get used to it?

Maybe if you post a screen shot of your situation ..

sidebar icons only are changed in >System Preferences>General
