Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10) frozen during download.

I have a Mac laptop using MacOS Big Sur.  While trying to download Adobe

Reader XI (11.0.10), it froze at about the 3/4 download and has been

stuck at this position for hours.  I have done numerous force quits and

then tried to reboot the computer but I get a message that shutdown has

been interrupted due to an install in progress.  It then tells me the

software being installed is Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10) and I can restart

after the install is complete but the install won't complete.  I also can't cancel the install. Any help

would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply.

From yourself and other community support sites, I’ve been informed I had tried to install a very old reader.  My problem was I couldn’t load or stop the attempted load of the old reader.  I tried a force quit multiple times but it wouldn’t terminate the attempted load and the computer wouldn’t shutdown while the download was in progress. Even though the message said interrupting the install may damage my computer, I had no choice but to do a force shutdown by holding down the power

button.  After turning the computer back on, the download was terminated and it doesn’t appear there is any damage.  I have now installed the correct reader.  Thanks again!
