Hi, I just updated to Big Sur and I download Adobe Reader. Somehow the installation keeps failing and I force quitted and deleted the dmg file. But now I can't shut down my mac because it's written that the Adobe is being installed. I wait for almost an hour and it's not moving at all. What should I do? I'm afraid that this could actually damaged my mac. Thank you

Can you get to the Desktop >> Apple Icon >> Force Quit choose Adobe Installer then Force Quit
Thanks I didn’t see the 11.1 update!
I called Apple Support and went thru all the steps again,
but
This time holding the power button down a very very very long time finally cause a shutdown and I could restart
and now I’m installing that 11.1 update!
Eject to Installer App Adobe Reader x11 on the Desktop. Then move to downloaded Adobe Reader X11 dmg from Download folder to trash. Empty Trash
Force quit does not work - meaning I force-quit the installer but when I try to shut down or restart I get the same pop-up claiming I'm not allowed to shut down!
I tried that and it didn’t work.
when I go to shut down or install I still get the blocking pop up message refusing to allow shutdown
Ah, then the Adobe reader was not the issue. Off the top, was there a notification from Apple on you computer of an update for big sur? If so, let it run. It is version 11.1
I'm on BigSur 11.0.1 so i've already installed that update
Yes, but carefull, am taking about 11.1. It was released Dec 14 and is Newer than 11.0.1

I tried forcing quit by holding power button down but it just displays the pop up saying I can’t shut down, even though I’ve force-quit the install and the pop up and deleted everything and emptied trash.
At this point - suggest Holding the POWER Button until it does shutdown. Then, restart and remove the file from Download Folder to Trash and Empty the Trash
