Epson CX7400 Multifunction Printer
My Epson CX7400 Multifunction Printer won't work with Big Sur. Does anyone know how to obtain an update to the printer driver?

My Epson CX7400 Multifunction Printer won't work with Big Sur. Does anyone know how to obtain an update to the printer driver?
Hi,
The latest driver on the CX7400 support page appears to be v10.33 for macOS 10.15 Catalina. You could of course try to reset the printing system and (re)install that driver.
However, in other cases, it has been possible to use a v10.85 driver intended for a different printer model and macOS 11 Big Sur. See, for example, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252055101?answerId=253919849022#253919849022 for a possible workaround if you want to carry out a few experiments.
The CX7400 is here: https://epson.com/Support/Printers/All-In-Ones/Epson-Stylus-Series/Epson-Stylus-CX7400/s/SPT_C11C689201?review-filter=macOS+10.15.x. This page is for Catalina, no way of choosing Big Sur (at least not today).
You could probably just test a more or less random printer with a 10.85 driver for Big Sur. For example, a WF-2510WF (10.85) download at https://www.epson.eu/support?productID=11996&os=38#drivers_and_manuals apparently works with a Stylus S20...
Thanks again. You provide a level of detail beyond my capabilities! Best if I just use another Mac for printing my documents that's not been upgraded to Big Sur until an Epson update appears in the App Store.
Thanks, Jan. The driver was installed; I can see the printer dialog box; clicking "Print" results in an error message and no printing. Not sure where to go from here since I'm unclear on how to trouble-shoot an installed program.
I cleared up the mystery. The new Epson software did not overwrite the default printer driver...so I printed a test page using the new driver, and then deleted the older, default driver...so now it works! Thank you so much for your assistance. If you don't work for Apple, perhaps you should! Thanks again.
Hello again,
macOS 11 Big Sur drivers are now available:
Thanks for your reply. Unable to access an appropriate driver from the Epson website. In fact I can't even locate the Stylus CX7400 when I search for that model.
You're welcome! Glad to hear that the printer is OK now. Good work!
