Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
When I am displaying a black/dark background on my iPhone 12 Pro Max, the screen flickers a gray color, almost as if true black feature is not working.

You spent a lot of money to get the iPhone that you did. iPhone 12 Pro Max. You need to be fully satisfied with the purchase. You feel that you have an issue with the screen flickering on your new iPhone. Go get it examined at the Apple Store or at an Authorized Service Center at least. Get it replaced if you have to. Take advantage of the excellent 1YR Limited warranty that your iPhone is under.

I’m more interested in knowing if it’s a widespread issue or just an isolated problem. Do we know as of right now?
I do not know whether it is widespread. Apple may know however I am just a user like you and do not work for Apple.

I have the same issue (grey screen when black colour) on iPhone 12 Pro Max with iOS 13.2.1 and i think it's a software problem
