Apple Silicon document storage

Hi,

What is the apple silicon equivalent of turning off 'optimise Mac storage'?

I cannot find it in the same place and want to store the full contents of iCloud Drive on my Mac as well as in iCloud so I can back up to an external hard drive.

Stop iCloud Drive from taking up hard-disk space Is it now possible in 2022, using Big Sur, to copy files into iCloud Drive, and have them stored only on Apple servers / in the cloud, and not on my Macs local hard-drive? I understand I can 'Optimise Mac Storage', but I have just enough space, for the full contents of iCloud Drive to be stored on my Mac. I don't want these files stored on my Mac, but in the cloud. iCloud Drive Optimise - still using disc space Hi, The hard disc of my 2015 MacBook Pro is almost completely full, with the majority of the space taken up by files that are saved on iCloud Drive. Various threads on Apple Support I have read suggest that others have had similar issues that have been solved by selecting 'Optimise Mac Storage' - I have this selected already and have had for some time. When looking at the storage use breakdown, 'other' is by far the largest. I've looked into what 'other' comprises of and it's pretty much entirely 'mobile documents', i.e. all the iCloud Drive files that should (as I understand) be stored solely offline. All files in my iCloud Drive have the correct cloud / arrow symbol indicating that they are not stored on the Mac. If anyone can help shed some light on where I might be going wrong I would really appreciate it. Thanks

the iCloud Drive one appeared after a 11.0.1 software update (from 11.0)

I want the files to be stored on iCloud and synced and downloaded to the Mac. I have deselected optimise Mac storage on both. Is this correct?

Don't you have this option in the System/Apple ID/iCloud preference pane?

Or if you're referring to your Photos library this option in Photos/iCloud preference pane?
