Recording a Voiceover in FCPX Not Working

I went to record a voiceover, like usual, and the first thing I noticed was that it automatically set the input gain to 12%, when I usually have it at 7%. I went to go click record anyway, and it set me back to the beginning of the timeline. I could still scrub and everything like that as usual, but it would refuse to let me record. I even tried relaunching the app to see if it would fix it, still the same thing. Next, I tried to make sure that the system setting for my microphone was set to the right one, and it was. So next I tried to change it to that microphone in FCPX, (which was very slow) and still did not work

System I'm using: 2019 16" MacBook Pro (base model)

Microphone I was trying to use: Built-in Microphone

FCPX Version: 10.5

Can someone help?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 11.0
