Restoring a Time Machine backup to Macbook Air M1?

Naturally this case is not on yet, but I'm searching for the answer in advance...

Do I do a normal full restore from the Time Machine backup of my current Macbook Air 2018 (10.15.7) to the new Macbook Air M1 when it arrives?

I started to think that if the OS is totally different due to the new processor can that restore go normally or do I need to install first MacOS and then separately all the data and apps?

Use Migration Assistant. You’ll be presented with that option during set up of the new machine.
