Can’t get my MagSafe charger to work in my car?

Just received my MagSafe charger for my 12 Pro Max. Planning to use it in my car. Plugged it in to my car and doesn’t work. Works fine plugged in inside the house so I know it’s not defective. I don’t have the box anymore for my car charger so I don’t know how much the output is. I’m thinking it may not be powerful enough? What are some recommended USB-c car chargers that are guaranteed to work with the MagSafe?

YES! Me too. I tried THREE different USB-C car chargers, and a USB-A to C adapter. no dice. It charges for a minute then stops. This is a problem. It doesn't matter how much output the charger should have, the magsafe ring should throttle back if it doesn't have the go-ahead to go full 15w. yet here we are.

Apple has advised on their pages that nearby magnets can interfere with the MagSafe charging. Maybe that's why the charger doesn't kick into 15w charging?

Mine definitely stops working when it's on a magnetic mount and works fine when its been placed on the side away from magnets.

I will patiently wait for Apple certified charging mounts to come to market...

So I ordered a new 30W USB-C car charger from Amazon. It provides power to my phone, however when I use my GPS on my phone it can’t provide enough power to actually increase the battery level. In my 25 minute ride to work the battery level depleted by 3% instead of increasing it. This is not cool, Apple! So I’ve paid $40 for the MagSafe and $30 for a new charging plug and it still doesn’t perform as it’s supposed to!

Hi

thanks everyone who’s messaging regarding the Apple puck.

please see picture I too have got the brodit set, however this isn’t working for me.

I believe there is no magnetic only a plastic puck especially made for the Apple MagSafe puck.

i have tried 4 chargers now and still no joy.

the MagSafe is connected straight into the mophie charger and still no joy.

I have been sent some more pictures regarding using a usb-c extension so I will try that.

thanks guys.

Yes it absolutely works just fine on my night stand. Magnetic mounting is asking to be in a car, and as such, should work in a car. It does not. There are at least two other folks up in this thread that know it doesn’t work. It’s not like I am driving an ‘85 Hyundai, it’s a 2017 Chevy bolt. It’s not the car. It’s not the power unit.

Any magnetic car mount should work. I like the MagBuddy ones because the magnets are crazy strong. But instead of putting the magnet on the back of your phone, you put it on the back of the MagSafe puck and mount it to the mount. Then your phone sticks right to the charger. Boom. Wireless MagSafe dash mount charger.

Hi guys

HELP....

so I have a MagSafe genuine Apple charger for my car, I have brought a brodit magsafe holder / cradle for this purpose , the issue I’ve got is that it is still not charging.

1, new MagSafe works on 240v but not 12v

2, brought An expensive cigarette lighter still no joy.

I gave taken it out of the holder and attached to the phone and still nothing.

I believe no magnet in place to effect charging issues.

so I’m stumped.

cheers guys.
