MBP 13" Late 2013 upgrade to macOS Big Sur

Thank you, MargeHomer. Would be nice if they told you this when you attempt to do the download. Would save everybody time. I spent the last hour with Apple Support. They have not gotten the memo.

Apple rarely - if ever - makes such announcements.

I have the same issue. I have a MBP retina, 13 inch, late 2013; Model ID: MacBookPro 11,1. It is on the supported list, but I do not even get the chance to update to Big Sur as I am told I am up to date with macOS Catalina 10.15.7. No luck going through the App Store either. I know some are having issues with Big Sure on this model, so are we shut out temporarily to the upgrade, or are we out of luck all together?

Dang, well my last option is to create and install from a bootable installer. You'll need another mac that can actually download Big Sur for this + a usb stick.

11/20/2020: Big Sur 11.0.1 (20B50) was released to block 2013 & 2014 13″ MBPro’s from installing the OS. This move looks to be related to the Big Sur install problems with these models.

Can you please post a link to some official article or whatever re. blocking certain macs?
