Copy dv tape to mac

I have a JVC DV camcorder and need to copy the tapes to my iMac. It's a GR-DX100EK camera if that helps. I lost all the cables for it but have charging cable. What do I need to connect this to my iMac.

Never had any problems fitting an iLink cable to a camera, it should slide in easily.

Check you are fitting this cable to the iLink connector on the camera (red circle) and not to the Mini USB connector:

To be clear, the iLink connector (with red arrow) fits in the camera

the Firewire 800 connector (green arrow) connects to the Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt cable

You need three cables to connect the camera to the Mac with a USB-C port

If you have a Thunderbolt port on the Mac, you don't need cable 3:

1 - iLink to FireWire 800 cable to connect camera to to Fire wire adapter, available from Amazon or Ebay

2 - Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt cable; to connect cable1 to cable 2 Available from the Apple online store

3 - Thunderbolt to USB-C adapter; to connect cable 2 to the Mac

connections from camera to Mac, look like this:

use QuickTime Player to capture the video (File > New Movie recording)

then click on the reveal triangle to select the camera's video and sound (NV-DS37 is my Panasonic Mini DV camera):
