4th Gen 2020 M1 Mac mini bluetooth issues with Magic Mouse2

Just got the brand new Mac mini (M1, 2020 8gb and 256gb - macOS big sur 11.0.1). The bluetooth connection between my Magic Mouse 2 and the mini drops during use (2-3 times an hour). The drop is very odd too - it always drops twice in quick fashion (it drops, I wiggle the mouse and click, it reconnects then immediately drops where I wiggle/click again and it connects for a longer period of time).

I worked with apple support who had me remove the plist files, but after rebooting I ran into the same issues. Any advice?

I have the mini connected via usb c cable to my acer 27" monitor. I use the same mouse, keyboard, monitor, and cable to connect to my 2018 MacBookpro 13 (Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7) and have never had issues. I even plugged in the MacBookpro after getting my mini to see if it was happening there again - nope. It's only the mini.

I may have "fixed" the issue with the Magic Mouse disconnecting and reconnecting repeatedly. System Preferences/Bluetooth/Advanced...uncheck "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer". The issue was happening all morning (and since I received the M1 Mac Mini) and has stopped since I unchecked the box. I am using a USB Keyboard, so that is how I will wake from sleep. So far, so good though.

I have similar issues on my Mac Mini M1, Magic Mouse works more or less fine, but all other bluetooth mice (from different brands) as well as bluetooth speakers are dropping connection or lagging. They were working fine on my previous MacBook Pro. I tried removing plist and resetting bluetooth module, nothing helps. This is clearly a bug or something, I saw a lot of people reporting similar issues on Macrumors forum.

I also had really bad freezing issues after the second day or so of ownership. I found that turning off Bluetooth completely has pretty much eliminated the issue for the last two days or so.

I now run an Apple extended wired keyboard, with a Logitech unifying receiver plugged into it so I can run my Bluetooth mouse.

It's annoying of course, but with me needing to use it as my main productivity machine, it's the short-term fix that's worked for so far.

i run a the equal situation while migrating form my older iMac to my new mac mini M1. Mouse moving leaks, connecting problems etc.

I think, it not a problem with the mac mini ,more with the concept of bluetooth itself and the maybe the improperly concept of migration.

Bluetooth is a point to point protocol and if we remember the earlier time of bluetooth: switching between bluetooth devices needs a unpair/pair procedure.

While migrating mac systems the bluetooth devices will not properly unpaired from the older system. Because of the "wakeup the mac" function by tapping the mouse or keyboard, it seems to me, the "bluetooth assignment" ex. keyboard<-> mac have to be strictly. (assigned bluetooth address, profile, security etc)

In my case i had the following solution:

After switching between the older/newer macs, at least the keyboard and mouse won't be recognized on my new Mac Mini. Even switching off/on the keyboard won't help. I connected the keyboard and mouse along the lighting cable to the mac mini USB port (as reloading the keyboard battery). The keyboard and mouse recognized properly.

To be sure, i open the system control --> bluetooth switching off the keyboard, wait some seconds and switching on again. Same procedure with the mouse. Since that, both devices working properly.

My magic mouse keeps disconnecting and reconnecting randomly on my new mac mini also. The same mouse works flawlessly on my macbook pro. Oddly enough my keyboard and trackpad do not have the issue. Seems to only be the magic mouse.

I deleted the mouse on my other devices before I paired it to the mac mini, so bluetooth contention should not be the issue. Also did the same with the trackpad and it works fine. I am leaning towards their being a mouse driver issue other than a bluetooth issue.

Having the same issues as others with intermittent drop out of mouse/keyboard bluetooth connections. Have a new M1 Mac mini connected via HDMI to a Samsung Space monitor and Apple Magic Trackpad and Keyboard. The monitor has a 2nd input (mini DP) which is connected to a Windows laptop. The issue seems to start if I switch to the 2nd input and then the Mac mini goes to sleep, but that might just be a coincident. I did perform a clean install of Big Sur after getting the Mac mini, which was a chore itself given the new M1 process. I don't remember having connection issues prior to the clean install, but again that might just be a coincident.

I did call Apple tech support who didn't have any exact answers. They did say that sometimes FileVault might cause issues if enabled, but I don't have it enabled. The tech support person did have me boot into Safe Mode and since restarting out of Safe Mode the connection seems stable after a couple of hours. Time will tell.

I've already posted here previously on 23 Nov. The issue is still occurring on the Mac mini running 11.0.1 (20B29).

Apple Support have contacted me, and I've sent their Bluetooth engineering team half a dozen sysdiagnose reports (now that I can capture with a wired keyboard).

Like some others, I have noticed that the issue does seem to correlate with _an_ iPhone unlocking or being interacted with nearby...

Not always, but it's enough for me to suspect a pattern. I have 3 iPhones on my desk, and it's also occurred when my wife has dropped by my desk to show me something.

My File Vault is not enabled, no iphones in the vicinity of the mac mini, just 2 bluetooth devices connected, using wifi 5ghz band. Sporadic disconnects still occur with just the mouse. I noticed that when I connect to the homepod mini in the audio settings, the mouse immediately becomes erratic. Out of the box, i had no issues with the m1 mac mini. The mouse disconnects started occurring after several weeks. Playing with the idea of initializing the mac and starting over from scratch.

To quote Joe Biden, COME ON MAN. Apple, lets finally fix this
