Keynote in Zoom

This questions has apparently been asked multiple times and has not been resolved, so I will ask it again.

I run macOS Catalina 10.15.7 and the lastest version of Zoom and the setting in Zoom for two monitors is selected. I am using an external monitor.

As many have noted with frustration, when the screen is shared during a keynote slideshow there is no option to select the full screen view. By default the presenter view with the next slide view is shared. I don't want a complicated workaround with another device. I want to be able to select the screen I share.

I know that there is an option for "Play Slideshow in Window" but that does not allow for the next slide view. Colleagues are also increasingly frustrated and moving to Google Slides and PowerPoint. I really like the functionality of Keynote and would love to be able to keep using it.

Also, the shared window should be resizable, otherwise participants cannot bee seen which renders the point of two screens moot.

What am I missing? Are these functions hidden somewhere? If anyone has a pointer to what I may be overlooking, I would be grateful for your advice.

Thank you for your reply, Gary. Just to reiterate however from my post: I do have two displays. Would your reply be different then? Unfortunately I do not have the option to share a selected area in Zoom in the advanced tab. I'll ask our IT folks why that is not the case. Even if I had that option though, Keynote takes over the entire screen. Can you recommend a setting where Keynote does not take over the entire screen?
