Text highlighting no longer works on macOS terminal

Today I was normally developing website when I noticed that "Shift+Left Arrow" no longer works (text highlighting) in terminal. When I want to highlight text in terminal (Shift+Left Arrow) I get ";2D" printed out. How can I fix this problem?

I'm using most recent version of macOS (Big Sur).

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.0

I have no idea. When I highlight characters in the Terminal application, it is with the mouse, and I never use any keyboard shortcut other than ^u to erase a command-line entry, or other occasional shortcuts to terminate an application or the Terminal itself.

I did not see any function in the keyboard bind list of functions (help bind) that allows one to select either the current line of text, or the insertion point backwards to the beginning of the text. Did not find anything in the VT100 Programming Reference card either.

I have tested your suggested keystroke selection as far back as High Sierra, and nothing gets selected in the Terminal using Bash v3.2.57, or Zsh from v5.8 back to v5.3.
