Big Sur sound settings disconnect bluetooth keyboard/mouse

I'm using a new Mac Mini M1 with Big Sur.

Whenever I go to sound settings my bluetooth keyboard and mouse are disconnected for about 30 seconds. This happens only when going to sound settings, either via top-menu, control-center or system preferences\sound.

I have previously used the mouse and keyboard with a 2009 iMac 21,5". Battery level is 100% on both.

Any suggestions?

Found this in another thread and it solved this problem:

open terminal app
sudo rm -rf/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/HAL/
restart mac
