What is my username?

I'm getting prompted repeatedly by an app that wants to access my keychain.

The system wants an administrator username

so I type it in as "Conrad Braam"

But I'm doing that just because it's what I normally see when I login, I don't know if that is what this dialog wants, but the password never gets accepted because it asks me again and again. I'm not seeing an error, just it asks me again. (I'm also not seeing an "always allow" button here?)

I look in "Users and Groups" and my name appears as "Conrad Braam" , if I unlock this padlock, I am not seeing an "Advanced" button, so this changed between a guide written in 2016 and now where I am running BigSur.

Either my username is correct, or the program I'm using is bugged , which sounds wrong, because I have the same program on another mac and it works perfectly fine.

Go to Hard drive -> Users. Your username is the name of the folder with the house icon.

Aha my username is "cb" , which is what I see in a Terminal as well if I open a terminal. Thanks.

I had tried using "cb" but it did not work perhaps multiple issues at play here. A confusion of multiple authorisation dialogues that look identical to do one task, which to the "uninitiated" all look identical, although request different credentials all of them appearing similar in meaning to me, did not help.

(My real pain is that things are little broken because Search on my mac is not working, I asked about this last week, and so far no suggestions, but at least I can work on resolving that again now.)

But my problem is now solved. I tried the program again, and I now have joy. :-)
