I just purchased the baseline M1 MacBook Air and I’m having trouble with the screensaver taking over the computer. It will come on even while using the device and then there’s no way to dismiss the screensaver. I have to switch users, log out, and/or restart the machine to get the screensaver to go away. At this point I’ve disabled the screensaver (which for me is fine) but I’m hoping there’s a fix out there somewhere.

Hey Apple - we have a problem on your new M1 Airbook! Please acknowledge and fix it - I reinstalled the MacOS per Apple Support on Sunday. Today the issue reappeared despite the screensaver being turned to 'Never"
If multiple people are logged in does it work ok?
No. The issue continues whether 1,2 or 3 users are logged on.
a previous post had suggested it only happens when multiple users are logged on. I have now seen it happen under all scenarios.
Yes. Same issue of random screen saver/lock.

Workaround: Only way to unlock is to close the lid and reopen.
Yes I have the same issue with the new MacBook Pro M1.
I hope Apple recognises this and releases a fix
if it a software issue then a software update should be on the way, if it is a hardware issue, then we should start sending back macs to retailers!
I have this problem too. It still persists after updating to macOS 11.1
Juts to informe I have tested the Workaround: close the lid and reopen.
It works for me.
It is a good news and it will help until until Apple recognize there is an issue and then correct it.
I face the same issue as well, I fix it by Pressing Command+Control+Q to log off user. The screen server will go away.
Exact same issue no matter how many users are logged in. Brand new M1 MacBook Air. Very annoying.
4 days with 11.2 beta and no screen saver bug. This is a message of hope ;)

Cannot confirm that on 11.2 beta, still get random screensavers and logouts when attached to a monitor and power (lid closed).
Yeah, happening on an m1 Mac Mini... tried clicking power button nothing happens... hard reboot every time. All screensavers etc disabled. Really disappointing
