MacBook Pro 2015 i7 core and 16g RAM.
Priot to update no problem. Since upgrade to Big Sur and started getting the spinning rainbow and MacBook freezing on a regular basis. Went to Apple support who suggest reinstalling. I did a basic reinstall and the same problem. So I did a full reinstall with a full wipe of the hard drive and did not restore from time machine as my storage is all cloud, now a few days later the problem is starting again.

Ah, 11.2 does not cure the problem. I have now had my first freeze since moving from 11.1 to 11.2 2 days ago.
Me too. Big Sur caused this for me. Frequent rainbow wheels and black screen crap-outs. I expect this from Windows but not Mac OS
Same here. Late 2013 MBP 15''. It has seen a lot of Apple OS. Big Sur is the reason to drop it :(
What are the tell tale signs in Activity Monitor that would show this kernel issue?
Look for memory that has been compressed or pages out. If you have a LOT of programs open, or Chrome running, that’s a likely cofactor.
I too have the same problem with brand new 2020 MacBook Pro, 4TB HD, 32GB RAM running Big Sur. Is Apple going to fix it?
Can you see in Activity Monitor in Memory if there is the compression and swap going on? It'll look like the image in the posts above.
After reading of all the people with issues and all of the time wasted, I just can't afford that, so I just installed Catalina instead of Big Sur.
I was having the same problem. In my case, the issue was solved after unninstall Avira.
I'm happy to report that my problems have gone away since I stopped using Chrome, and mostly stopped using Safari. I'm now using Firefox almost exclusively.
