Apple silicon compatibility Epson R3000

I have a maxed out M1 Mac Mini. I'm trying to print on an Epson R3000 printer. I get a message that says: "Missing USB Class Driver" in the "print queue" box, and the print job fails.

Interestingly, I can print test patterns from the Epson Print Utility 4. Additionally, I can see print levels and other current info from the printer in PU4. Also, the computer seems to recognize the connection.

Suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.
