Move Apple ID to another country - what happens to shared storage and shared photos albums?

Hello. I need to switch region because we moved. Apple states that I have to switch off family sharing first. What will happen to shared storage and shared photos albums when I stop family sharing?

Family Sharing is about sharing an existing resource already assigned to an Apple ID. The resource doesn't disappear if Family Sharing is disabled as long as the Apple ID exist. Your real issue is "moving" an Apple ID from one region to another.

I suggest:

  • Make a copy on a physical device you control of important user created content (Docs, photos...).
  • Get informations and instructions directly from Apple only.
  • Double check everything.

Be warned that moving to another region can trigger local regulation issues our of your control or of Apple.
