iphone 12 pro not reading NFC tags

Had the same issue.

solved by using another app for format and re-write the nfc tag, don’t use “nxp tag writer” has some issues, I don’t know why or if only for me... but I used “nfc tools” (https://apps.apple.com/it/app/nfc-tools/id1252962749?l=en) and works great! Each time I pass the tag near the iPhone it get it. Worked for a few days so I think it’s stable ;)

I have this same problem with my iPhone 12. I can read and write to NTAG 215 tags using NXP tag reader, but when I write anything, including a URL, to the tag, the iPhone won't pop up with a message to go to the link. I can read the link with NXP, but even if I quit NXP reader, the iPhone just ignores the tag unless I have NXP running.

Did you place the NFC device on top of the front cam bump? It’s not on the back like on android phones.

I just got a 12 mini and I have had zero issues with NFC. Used my Yubikey neo to setup mail accounts x3.

I have this issue too! IT works very sporadic but I think when I open up the shortcuts app, then it will work a few time. For me there is no way to reproduce this issue. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. I would like to know why and if there is anything we can do? Maybe this is a software issue and Apple can fix with an update!?

sometimes the iPhone don’t response when I move it over a NFC tag. But when I lock the iPhone and unlock it again then it will work. Is this normal? Is there a timeout or shutdown of the NFC Chip after a period of time?

Setting up youtube I had to sign in with one of my gmail accounts, and it's secured with U2F and 2step. It asked for NFC authentication, I put the NFC chip ontop of the speaker area for 1 second and it registered the key instantly.

Could be software related. Are you on the latest OS version?

I restarted the phone a couple of time and it immediately started working, I guess it was a temporary bug.

Pay attention on how the nfc tag is written, not all app available from the App Store do a good job writing the tag and it may be not possible to read it if it’s not good-written

I have an iPhone 12 and iPhone 11. Neither one will read a tag without the deployment/use of a 3rd party tag reader. The claimed native IOS 14 reader isn't functional on it's own. I've checked with support without any success. I gather I need to attempt with other tags to isolate the problem between the phone(s) or the tag(s).

Same with iPhone 12 mini. It reads the tag once at ten attempts. My girlfriend has iPhone 11, no issues there.

Same issue. iPhone mini. NFC reads like 1 in every 10 attempts. My partners 11 reads it every time.

I use freestyle libre 2 en doesn’t work with 12 max pro. I am forced to use my husbands phone 11 max pro. If he is not around i am having a big problem.

Wow...it worked, i was trying to scan using back of my iP12, and obviously it didn't worked :)

But with a top side of the phone it works every time :)
