cannot change install location

Installers on my 2019 MacBook Pro skip over the Destination selection screen during installation. The built-in system HDD is only 256GB, so I would like to install some of my much larger apps like Adobe software to another drive. How can I do this? (I have searche don Google, but no one has provided a solution that I can find. Maybe there is a setting I just haven't configured? Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, all!

Applications need to be Installed in the /Applications folder on the boot drive to get the best protection against being modified by malware or by accidental overwriting.

They also need to be in the /Applications folder for best performance, as then the source files can be used as a source of Applications code pages, without having to be copied first.

Hello 8thHalfHour,

Thanks for reaching out to us. If we are understanding correctly, you are wanting to change the install location on your Mac. Currently, this is not an available option. App downloads default directly to the Applications folder to interact with the macOS. If you wish to save space on your hard drive, we suggest moving the larger apps to an external drive. You can find the steps to do so here:

Use external storage devices with Mac

We hope this helps you.

Have a great day!
