Screen time password not required to extend limit

I used to use screen time as a way to force myself to not use some apps too much. I asked my roommate to set up a password and not tell me, and I would ask her for it only in emergencies. It worked pretty well, but since a few months ago screen time is no longer prompting me to put a password if I click on ‘allow 15 more minutes’ once the app limits have been exceeded. I have heard that it works if it on a child’s device, but I can’t pretend my phone is my child’s device because it asks for a different Apple ID to set up screen time than the one on the device. Is it normal that it no longer asks for a password if you are setting the screen time on your own device? If so, what is even the point of having the ability of setting up a password in this case?

Hi there Bia10,

We understand you're experiencing an issue with being able to use your apps past the Screen Time limit without having to enter the password, and we'd like to see if we can assist.

First, check to make sure your Screen Time settings are set up properly: Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Also, check that "Block at Downtime" and/or "Block at End of Limit" are enabled as desired.

Finally, head to the Always Allowed section and ensure that the app(s) in question aren't listed there.

Cheers!
