Can’t hear phone ringing when I am making calls

I can’t hear the phone dialing or ringing on my iPhone 12 pro. The only way I know it’s actually calling is when someone answers. Is it the phone?

If you look at the screen when calling it will start a counter when it connects. Whether or not you actually hear ringing sound is up to the remote network (the network at the number you are calling); the ring sound in the earpiece is generated by that network, not in your phone. Some networks do not provide aural feedback in the form of a ringing sound.

Hi there iPhoneissuesforwendy,

We know it's important to hear the sound when pressing the numbers, and we're happy to assist you.

When you make a phone call, is your iPhone set to silent mode? Check the Ring/Silent switch above the Volume buttons to make sure. If it's set to silent, then you won't hear the noise when dialing.

Please let us know if you need more help.

Have a great day!
