Duplicate songs on iPhone 12

Hi,

This is a frustrating problem and I have searched the internet and Apple Support Communities but cannot find an answer.

I have iPhone 12. I have a lot of music in my iTunes Library. I don't use Apple Music. Some of my library is music purchased from iTunes and the rest comes from my own CDs that I have uploaded to iTunes. When I sync music from my PC (no Apple computer) to my phone, I'm getting duplicate songs for all the non-purchased music. In other words, all the CDs that I have uploaded to iTunes are syncing "double" to my phone. For instance, on the album "Noel" by Kurt Bestor, the song list is:

  1. We Three Kings
  2. We Three Kings
  3. Come, All Ye Shepherds
  4. Come, All Ye Shepherds

(and so on)

I like to listen to full albums at times, rather than playlists or shuffle, and when I do, the same song plays twice in a row, so I have to continually skip the duplicates. It really ruins the listening experience! I'm not a computer guru so any explanation in plainspeak would be much appreciated!

p.s. When prompted to select which device my post above is pertaining to, there is no option to choose iPhone 12 Pro, so I chose iPhone 11 Pro. That's strange....

thanks!

Actually I found a similar thread & the suggestion was to go into settings, delete all music & then re-sync again

I’ve done that & it partially worked. All duplicate music has gone.

Unfortunately the artwork is still mixed up.
