Safari (Mojave 10.14.6.) will not allow me to attach files through Gmail or Yahoo with the paper clip icon. Today is the first time this problem occurred. I have cleared my cache and history. I can attach files only by drag and drop.
I do not have this problem when using Chrome.

Originally I thought the problem was just with my email, which I have reported about seven times over the past few months. It seems to stem from the November 2020 Security update. Anyway, I am unable to attach anything in my email from Safari, or from other websites (Faxzero, Hartford, among others), so it is obviously a Safari error. How do I know? Because after doing all of the normal clearing cache and all, and still no benefit. I downloaded Firefox at the suggestion from one of the companies mentioned. Although I have only used Safari for years, and did not want to download another browser, I reluctantly did so, and I was able to attache files in each of the three above mentioned companies, as well as others. It is obviously a Safari issue. I am using Mojave 10.14.6 and Safari 14.0.2

This problem still exists. Drag and drop works for some things, but it doesn't work in parts of Canvas for example.
I'm using Safari and all of a suden I can't attach docs. from my computer. what can I do?
I cannot attache files using safari to Yahoo email. I've had this problem for a few months and cannot fix it. Many people have this problem with Yahoo and gmail. Why is Apple not fixing this?!!

HI All - I've been having same problem (loading photos up to Ebay)
I've read many of the threads concerning this, and have worked through suggestions.
IT IS NOT A MOJAVE issue as such...following advice above I reloaded Mojave 10.14.6... upload worked fine (using the installed Safari 12.1.2)
IT IS NOT A SECURITY UPDATE issue...following reload of Mojave and Safari 12.1.2, I then in sequence loaded the 2 security updates 2020-005 and 2020-006....again no problem upload worked.
IT IS NOT A MOJAVE SUPPLEMENT ISSUE...... I then added the macOS Mojave Supplemental Update....this introduced Safari 14.0....again no problem uploads continued to work.
IT IS....IT IS....a SAFARI 14.0.1 ISSUE....so finally I added the Safari 14.10.1 update... lo and behold uploads stopped working.
So I have no solution, but my workaround keeps me on Safari 14.0 and therefore functional, 14.0.1 clearly doesn't work with Mojave, and maybe not with Catalina (according to some posts).
Hope this helps... I've logged with Apple Support.
I can confirm that I am experiencing the file upload bug on my MacBook Air and iMac 5k. I am a Web Designer and this bug has impacted me negatively. I'm also quite underwhelmed that there has been no acknowledgement of this issue from Apple.
Is anybody aware of an ETA for any kind of fix?
Looking around this safari forum, lots of people having similar issue here. Guessing it is a bug. Try an alternate browser to confirm this is the issue (Chrome, as example).
Apple have broken Safari with the 14 update on Mojave it seems. Similar functionality on WeTransfer is no longer working either.

Can you please fix this asap; the problem started after upgrading to Mojave 10.14.6.
In addition to Chrome, you can also attach files with Firefox.
As mentioned by Clueless-senior "drag and drop" still functions properly in Safari.
