iphone 12 mini alarm volume gets quiet

On my new iPhone 12 mini whenever my alarm or timer goes off, it starts loud for about a second or two and then the sound lowers to very quiet. Easy to fall back asleep. Not a good way to make sure I wake up. Is there a setting to keep the volume the same or is there a sound issue with the iPhone 12 mini or iOS? I am on iOS 14.2.1

Never mind the question. I figured it out. It is an option in faceID. I turned that feature off and now the volume stays the same.
