Mac mini M1 LG49WL95C and 5120x1440

I just got the Mac mini M1 and the LG 49WL95C however I cannot get the native 5120x1440 to work.

The option is not available. Connected with USB-C

BIG sur

LG Mac On Screen also says no monitor.


Please help before I return everything. This M1 is supposed to support 6k res

Did you try the following.

Select 'Systemsettings' and then 'Displays'.

Select 'Scaled', then you see the resolutions you can select.

Hold down the <ALT> key and click again on 'Scaled', now you see a lot of extra resolutions to choose from.


Perhaps it works. On my old MacBook Pro mid 2014 it worked.

Let me know if this also works for you.

I have the Mac mini M1 and LG49WL95C. When I do

an option 5120*1440 (low resolution) shows. Not sure why it says low res.

Anyhow I got this working with SwitchresX

Max Resolution that Mac display preferences support is 3840*1080. I've tried 2 different USB-C cables (including the one from LG)

Also LG´s on screen control does not detect a monitor - so I am unable to split screen.

I installed switchresX and was able to select 5120*1440 and that seems to work, display preferences does still not show scales 5120*1440 option.


So biggest issue is for Mac mini M1 big sur to recognise this 5120*1440 and for the LG On screen control to work ?
