Big Sur drops call when switching to iMac audio source

Since upgrading my iPhone XS Max and iMac Pro (2017} to Big Sur, whenever I make a call and switch the audio source to the iMac the call is lost-the phone hangs up. Every time. Anyone else?

iMac Pro, macOS 11.0

Hi John,

We're glad to hear that restarting the iPhone resolved the issue for you and you can now take calls on your Mac again. If you have any questions down the road, we're only a message away.

All the best.

Hello John,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! We understand you've experienced an issue where calls are dropped when you switch from your iPhone to your iMac, since you've upgraded it to Big Sur.

If this is still occurring, begin by restarting both devices:

Restart your iPhone

Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac

If the issue persists after restarting, check to see that both are running the latest versions of the operating system.

Once you have completed those steps, try switching audio sources and see if the issue persists. If it does persist try switching to another audio source, like headphones, and let us know if there is any change.

Cheers!

Hello John,

We're glad you reached out again. Since this is only occurring when you're dialing into a conference call, the next step will be to reach out to the developer of the app which you're using for the conference. If you're unsure how to reach out to the developer, this article will show you how to find their contact information: How to contact an app developer.

Take care.
