Hi,
I just reinstalled macOS to the factory version (Big Sur).
I want to transfer files from Time Machine Backup (TOSHIBA) to the Documents folder.
Can I just copy and paste?
or
Is there any better/secure way?

We're glad you reached out and looks like you were able to get access to the files you need. In regards to the backup on your new system you can just connect your external hard drive. It's already formatted to run on the macOS software.

During the install process you are asked if you want to get your data from Time Machine, PC or another source.
If you miss this step, you can afterwards use Migration Assistant, that you will find in the Applications folder, Utilities.

As seen in the screenshot, I have only two folders to migrate from Time Machine Backup to a new system.

To run Time Machine on a new system,
Should I format external HDD?
or
Can I just plug to USB port and continue to run Time Machine?
