We put movies from the past on a stick and then put them on my hard drive. I can open it on my computer, but not in Final cut pro X. Why is this?
The files are all MPEG- files. Maybe this is the problem, but I have tried and change it to MOV, but that doesn't work either.

I think it's because the files are MPEG-2. What can I do to solve this?
Doesn’t open In the QuickTime player does it?
In the QT player user File>Export as. Pick the size. Keep it at the native size and the application should take care of the rest.

MPEG can be a lot of things. MPEG-2 is not supported anymore except on DVDs I don’t think. Can you open the file in the QuickTime player? If so open the Info window and post a screenshot of what it says there.
It opens in Quicktime player but I can't edit it. Sorry for not uploading my information of the file. Here it is:
If it opens in the QT player you can export it from there to H.264 QuickTime.
