Unable to screenshot with iPhone on iOS 14.2

I am unable to screenshot with my iPhone XS on iOS 14.2. Here's what I've tried so far, open to other suggestions:


  1. Home button + volume up button
  2. Assistive touch > Device > More > Screenshot
  3. Double tap assistive touch
  4. Double tap back of device
  5. Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings


All of the above have failed. I'm noticing that when I attempt to take a screenshot, the assistive touch button fades away almost as if a screenshot is being taken. However, no photos are saved.


Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Have you checked your storage? Do you have enough storage to take a photo? Have you checked to see if you have any Restrictions turned on? Go to Settings>ScreenTime>Restrictions and check.
