MacBook Pro 13" with M1 - Volume is way too low

Nothing changed on my M1 MacBook Pro after update...

Btw, Apple does not intentionally slowing performance to force us to upgrade. The hardware we have is what as time goes by becomes slower in relation to the progress in software/OS...

Same issue here. I just got my MBP a couple of days ago (my first Mac) but instantly noticed that speakers are too low.

I started looking if anyone has same issue, and found this discussion

Hopefully is a software issue.

I have submitted feedback too, there is no fix as of now.

From a marketing perspective, Apple did not promote the speakers as a unique selling point on the 2020 M1 MBP/MBA. However, I am pretty sure they did in all previous intel models.

The next MBP is going to be marketed as having better speakers than the 2020 M1 MBP - built in obsolesce. This will make it look like they have made the speaker better, but in reality, they will be the same as the intel 2013-2019 MBPs.

If a moderator deletes this, I will not be impressed

The software is setting the maximum volume on a movie too low to hear clearly, and this needs to be fixed by Apple. The speakers go loud with some webpages, so they are not the problem. Please turn up the volume.

Well... Boom 2 is not a very good solution since the sound quality is significantly reduced after installation!

It is not enough to just have a louder sound but also to have the best sound quality from the speakers! :)

This thread has been really helpful as I am experiencing low volume issues on my new macbook pro m1. At least compared to my macbook pro year 2017. The difference is considerable. its not bad but it lacks power. Did apple recognizes the speakers in this version are worse? Anyone has further updates? I have an appointment on Apple in 5 days to check this.

No difference here after the update 11.5.1. Still have to turn it up to about 75% to get a decent sound in my small office. Meanwhile, I can turn my iPad air up to 50% playing the same media and be able to hear it 3 miles down the road. I love my MBP but this is just ridiculous. Especially for they money spent.

Can anyone that have contacted with Apple's representative, verify as to whether it is indeed a software issue and could be resolved in future updates or are we out of luck here?

Because it seems like we are half way point of Big Sur and there seems to be no improvement from reading this thread and elsewhere too.

Has this issue ever been resolved? I just got my 13" M1 set up and I have the exact same issue. I did an A/B comparison with a 2019 MacBook and the 2019 kicks *** compared to the new one. The volume has to be at 10 in order to get decent sound and the audio dynamics are inferior. Less bass, less articulation.

Is it possible that most people got good speakers and we just got some factory duds? I called Apple support and the guy never heard of this issue. I don't see a lot of complaints on the internet aside from this discussion group. Is this a widely known issue?? Thanks.

I just upgraded from a mid-2017 MBPro to an M1 MBPro and noticed the speakers are at least 30-35% LESS LOUD than before. What is up with that? I also read the other forums saying the same thing... lots of complaints.

MAC ... are you listening to us? why is this happening? can it be fixed?

Same here, even my old iPad Pro 9.7 Is louder... might the be an issue or is just the way it is?

Mine is much softer too. Need to be at least 3/4 max to be of normal audible volume.

How could we possible find out if they had changed the speaker components/tuning?

Mine is the new M1 MacBook Air that came with Big Sur, so there's no "Previously relocated items" folder.
