iPhone’s Apple TV remote app works except the touchpad. How do I restore full functionality?

I always use my iPhone to control all the Apple TV’s in my house. I recently unplugged the Apple TV and had to re-pair my iPhone to my Apple TV but by doing so, the remote app only has partial functionality. The menu, microphone, play/pause, home and search buttons work BUT the track pad stopped working. I unpaired and paired several times but it won’t resolve the issue. I’m on a iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 14.2.1, Apple TV 4K. Apple/Someone please help!? Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Xmas to all!!!!
