Since I updated to Big Sur my drag and drop function from app to app, let's say, drag a file from desktop to upload to Chrome, isn't working, whenever I drag, it doesn't seem to detect the app change, so I can't control the cursor, just hope it hovers where I wanted it to.
With past updates this wasn't a problem.
Anyone in the same situation or knows what to do?

I'm having the same drag/drop issue at the Finder level when I have multiple Adobe CC applications open. Constantly. The only resolution is to relaunch the Finder. Super annoying.

You mentioned this isn't working with Chrome. Are there any Apple apps this isn't working with? How about macOS Mail?
Does Chrome have any updates available?
Are you able to test inside a new user account and see if the behavior is the same? Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

I am having the same issue with a 2020 MacBook Air and Big Sur 11
For all my other Macs / IOSs, I would click on a file in a Finder window and drag on the trackpad and drop in another window. (I am guessing the same OS issue is affecting the original poster which is why I am commenting instead of starting a new thread.)
Now the only thing I have gotten to work is clicking on a file name until the icon enlarges then somehow "lifting" it to the new finder window to move it.
So far I have not gotten this to work with moving multiple files at once between finder windows.
Dragging and dropping the old way does nothing, or may open the image, which is very annoying.
I hope this is a bug and not a feature as the old way of dragging and dropping one from one window to another was much quicker and better.

Finally I got a dialog asking if I gave Dropbox permission to have files moved to it. Now I can drag and drop normally with one motion. Mentioning in case the original poster was trying to drag from Dropbox. So my issue is resolved.

Not only with Chrome, with any other app or program that requires going from one window to another, I'm a college student, so I manly work on Google, WhatsApp App, Adobe and Office apps, and with every of them I have the same issue.
I replied to someone else in the thread, explaining that whenever I drag an item to another window, the cursor freezes and I can only change between windows, can't move the cursor at all. Also, most of the times it doesn't recognize the change of program and window, let's say, I'm hovering over Chrome or any other app and the computer still thinks it's over desktop, and forces me back.
I haven't tried doing it in guest mode, I will try and if the bug keeps happening I'll let you know.

Yes, that's the exact same problem I have, and yes it's very annoying, it makes the process way slower and frustrating.
Whenever I drag from one window to another, the cursor freezes with the file, and I can only control the window change. Only being very lucky, meaning just very very few times, I got the old function working.
As you said, hope it's just a bug and can be fixed.
