Invisible preview icons for minimised applications in dock

Hi everyone,

Since I upgraded to Big Sur, I have the issue that (and I guess it is most of the time when waking up from sleep) the preview icons of active and minimised applications in the dock become invisible.

I invested some time by performing a clean install of Big Sur. I created a bootable drive and erased my harddisk in order to have the cleanest install possible. Unfortunately the error showed up again. :(

Is there anyone experiencing the same? I can't find other complaints about this phenomenon, maybe I am using the wrong words to describe it.

well that's not a fix because

  1. I don't have show recent applications in dock anyway. These aren't recent apps, they're simply apps minimised which DID have their full icon when minimised but it was lost after some time. clearly a bug!
  2. I don't want to minimise windows into the application icon since I want to see what documents are "active" and single click to use them

This is obviously a bug which needs fixing

yep same for me on an intel i9 macbook pro 16 2019 and a Mac Mini M1 2020 - problem still exists after a full reformat and reinstall of big sur on the macbook pro and has been there since day 1 on the mac mini fresh from factory.

I only notice it when I come to the machine in the morning making me wonder if it's some kind of overnight maintenance task that's causing it? (I have the machine on 24/7 it doesn't go to sleep or anything)

If those are App icons, they should not be on that side of the Dock. Apps are on the left, documents and folders on the right. There should be a divider between the apps and docs.

I've never seen anything like that.

Ok, should have opened FaceTime. I minimized a few other apps and didn't see anything like what you posted.

However, I decided to open FaceTime and I see that the image is supposed to be there. No idea, sorry.
