Apple TV 4K Default Audio Output
Does anyone know why the only option on the Apple TV 4K Default Audio Output option is "TV Speakers"? And if there is any way to change this to another option, something such as HomePod or HomePod Mini?

All your devices need to be in the latest OS, you need to use the Home app and place your HomePod on the same room as your AppleTV. Then you will have the option to use them as TV Speakers. If not, you can do it within the Home app. It only works with HomePods. With the mini you can only send them AirPlay temporarily, like any other speaker now. Hold the “Home” button on your AppleTV remote, the one that looks like a TV, a menu will pop up on screen and in the bottom left you can select your speakers.
Apple decided to change the Default Audio Output, and only the HomePods can use it now, the rest of us are screwed.

All my HomePods show up to be used no matter what room they’re in. This is likely an issue with the HomePods not being found, which is why I said to unplug them and reboot the wifi. If the issue persists you can Reset HomePod
Other causes can be if your wifi is Dual Bands. You would need to separate them and not have the 5G being used as the default, but you can still use 5G. Have everything on the same network.
Thank you very much for your help. I've been on the telephone with AppleCare for four hours, and waited for a senior advisor for an hour before I gave up. I wondered why they decided to screw us this way? This is nowhere in the Apple documentation. I am going to report this in the Apple Feedback option, and am also going to speak with an Apple Senior about it. This needs to be addressed, as it is not addressed prior to purchasing the product. Thank you so much for helping me get to the bottom of this.
Mine allows homepods. Make sure they’re online.
