scanner not seen by the imac

Hi

I have a new printer/scanner lexmark2535. I can print ok but cannot scan to the imac. if i go to system preferences then to printers and scanners, then select scan and open scanner all I get is a scanner box saying "waiting for scanner" This is also the case if i use image capture from applications. I have connected the printer via a network on ethernet. as i say it prints ok. should there be scanner software to go onto the imac.

Lexmark don't have a dedicated scanner driver for your scanner for Mac OS 11 Big Sur.

The only other suggestion is to test Vuescan which is Big Sur compatible, there is a free trial available from the website: Vuescan
