Should I use Airprint or the Drivers supplied by the printer's manufacturer ?

Is there any advantage one way or the other ?

Thanks

If you use AirPrint you don't have to download drivers from the printer's manufacturer's website.

As far as scanning scanning is concerned: Apple's own Capture Image does work, but some people prefer the scan utility which is provided on the printer's manufacturer's website.

It's up to you to decide. You can try one option, if you don't like it: remove the printer/scanner and install it again using the other option

Aside from scanners which require additional features usually provided by software, using Air Print seems to me to be a better way to go because of the following reason. Every time we install a system upgrade or some system updates, a new printer driver is likely to be needed. Many printer manufacturers are notoriously slow about providing needed drivers. Eventually, they stop providing them at all for older models. Air Print avoids all that hassle.
