Hi there,

I recently purchased a MacBook Air Mid 2012. I was able to upgrade my software from 10.12.6 to High Sierra. I do not have garage band on the computer, but there are garage band loops/files saved. My computer will not allow me to download the newer version of Garageband being my device cannot install the Big Sur/ 11.0 update. Garageband was one of the reasons I purchased this computer. Am I able to download an older version? If so, where can I find that at?

In high hopes of getting this issue solved! Please help.

There is no longer any GarageBand version available o apple's servers, that you could download to your Mac. If you have an older backup with GarageBand 6.0.5, this version will run on your Mac. Just copy the GarageBand application back from your backup.

But the Mac App Store is currently only offering GarageBand 10.4.1, which requires macOS 11 Big Sur.

It's a bit bad on Apple not allowing you to download the older versions for High Sierra. My MacBook crashed because of a new Apple release download so I had to reinstall everything but I lost Garageband. I wish they would try and support users with good working machines. Probably set up or sponsor a Vintage App Clu.

Got ya. Thanks so much! If you have the patience, could you guide me on backing up GarageBand and copying it. I’m not familiar on how to do that.
