Accessibility: Speak Screen not working

I have a first gen SE and until recently I've been using Speak Screen with the Books app to listen to text while driving.

When I swipe down from the top of the screen the Speech Controller pops up and disappears. No audio.

I also turned on the Speech Controller permanently and tried using it with other speakable content. Still nothing.

I have no other volume issues. I've tried it several times with different ePUBs and PDFs. I've restarted my phone and turned the option on/off in Settings. Outside of updating/restoring my phone is there something else I could try? I'm still running iOS 13.6.1

Resolved.

Ok, so I changed the voice and now it's working again.
