Speech screen function is not working

I’m on iOS 14.4.2, iPhone 12, I could swipe down with two fingers to have articles read to me. Now, when I swipe down with two fingers, the speech controller pops up but no sound.

Is there a new setting to activate in order to get sound?

Accessibility: Speak Screen not working I have a first gen SE and until recently I've been using Speak Screen with the Books app to listen to text while driving. When I swipe down from the top of the screen the Speech Controller pops up and disappears. No audio. I also turned on the Speech Controller permanently and tried using it with other speakable content. Still nothing. I have no other volume issues. I've tried it several times with different ePUBs and PDFs. I've restarted my phone and turned the option on/off in Settings. Outside of updating/restoring my phone is there something else I could try? I'm still running iOS 13.6.1

Speech to Text Dictation issue Since upgrading my iPhone 13 to iOS 16.0.2, I’m having a problem with speech to text dictation in ALL apps. I get this icon (pictured) that suggests the mic is off. But I know the mic is working (all is good when recording a Voice Memo and taking on the phone, etc.) but for the life of me cannot figure out why the device thinks the mic is turned off, or how to turn it on. I’ve tried settings>privacy>microphone but to no avail. Any suggestions much appreciated.

i just turn phone off and on and the speech screen function works again
