Headphones microphone volume level too low

Hello,

I recently bought a pair of wired earphones (1more Quad drivers) to alternate with my Airpods for Music listening and meetings.

In a recent meeting, the other person complained that the audio coming from me was almost non existent, even if I talked with the earphones microphone positioned 2 cm away from my mouth.

To double check that it is not a earphones problem, I used the same earphones with my iPhone and joined the call from there too, and the other person immediately confirmed that my audio was loud and clear.

Then, I tried using dictation and also there the input volume is basically zero.

I already checked in the System Preferences that the input volume is at its max:

Can it be an hardware issue? I only used my AirPods since I bought them but I would like to use my new earphones for improved quality and infinite battery, useful for long meetings.

Thank you

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.0

Hello Gobbees,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand users are unable to hear you clearly, while using a headset with your Mac. We can help point you in the right direction.

Our recommendation is to reset the NVRAM (nonvolatile random-access memory). This may help resolve the issue you're experiencing. Here's an article with additional details and the proper steps to take: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac

In addition, we suggest to restart your Mac in safe mode. This helps to perform a basic check of your startup disk, deletes some system caches and more: How to use safe mode on your Mac Once you're in safe mode, please restart your Mac as normal and see if you continue to experience the same behavior.

Kind regards.
