Touch ID is not working on my MacBook Pro. 2016

Touch ID is not working on my MacBook Pro 2016 with touch bar. I deleted the original Touch ID and now I am unable to create another touch id. It says not able to add the finger print without even asking me to scan my finger. How do I reset Touch ID and add a finger print?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.12

reset the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295


if no resolve

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379



If your problem does not resolve— I suspect a hardware issues:

Call Customer Support (800) MY–APPLE (800–692–7753)
