Will Satechi make a new USB-C multi-port adapter / hub ? Their current products have issues and seems outdated...
I recently got a new MacBook Pro 16" (2019), and I wanted to get an adapter-hub that with old USB-A port, HDMI 2.1 and an Ethernet port.
The HDMI 2.1 port is to connect my MacBook to my Samsung 8K QLED TV (to skip the AirPlay), and the Ethernet port is for getting more stabil internet (not WiFi) and easier and faster access to files stored on my Time Capsule (from Time Machine backups). The USB-A port is for my old external keyboard. Plus I like to charge my new iPhone 12 Pro Max (which I am about to get any day now) through one of the USB-C ports on my MacBook... And I need one USB-C port for battery charing and power.
All of the current products of Satechi seems to have a few issues. The one that you connect with two USB-C plugs and attached on one side of the MacBook seems to experience getting friction which will affect the plugs. The HDMI 4K only at 30Hz - not even 60 Hz (and we now have 120Hz). Problem with heat, that will affect the ports, especially in the long run - reduces the full function/use and even stop working. The Ethernet port is not optimal... Charging the battery or power pass through is not good (49 Watts I think ?) - but I plan to not use this set up through the hub/adapter...
From what I understand these Satechi products are 2-3 years old, so isn't it time for updating ? Should I just scrap the above planned use/setup (HDMI and Ethernet ports) ?
Is my theory of connecting an Ethernet cable from the wall - and through the Time Capsule - optimise stability on internet speed (compared to WiFi) and will I assess backup files on my Time Capsule faster ?
Also, does it matter if I get a multi-port adapter hub that is connected with two USB-C plugs (dual) or do I get the same result with the one USB-C plugged (single) hub ?
I hope I make sense - if not then let me know. Right now I have not unboxed my MacBook Pro 16" (2019) as I am a little tempted to return it to the store... I am on an old Mid-2012 non-Retina MacBook Pro 15" which still works fine for my multi-tasking, except for some smaller issues which I have solved - plus it will of course not be accepted for the new Big Sur OS upgrade...
